The long-awaited Microsoft Surface Book 2 is finally here, almost two years after the predecessor Surface Book made its appearance. It packs greater punch with more powerful Intel processors and new graphics cards. The 2-in-1 also adds a larger display.

Although it might not look different to the original hybrid, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 comes with design upgrades and boasts solid build. The most notable improvement probably is the hinge, which Microsoft says features ceramics. This will help to deal with the embarrassing lack of stability some users complained on regarding the previous offering.

In addition to the regular 13-inch unit, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 now also comes in 15 inches. The smaller hybrid boasts a screen resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels, while the larger has 3,240 x 2,160 pixels. You can detach the display to use as a tablet.

Microsoft did not hide the fact that it has the MacBook Pro in focus with this one. It says its Surface Book 2 is two times more powerful than the Apple notebook. This 2-in-1 offers latest 8th-generation Intel Core i processors – you can still get the 13-incher with 7th-gen offerings.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 uses more powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (or 1060) graphics solution that will allow you run highly demanding apps more easily. You get up to 16 GB of RAM.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 comes with Creators Update edition of Windows 10 Pro. Its maker promises up to 5 hours of battery life when in tablet mode and watching videos. For storage, you have solid state drive of up to 1TB capacity.

The hybrid offers Dolby Atmos support for headphones. Microsoft Surface Book 2 packs an 8MP camera on the rear and another 5MP sensor on the front. And of course, you can access your desktop with the Windows Hello feature. Connectivity options include one USB Type-C port, two USB-A ports, and Surface Connect. There is also microSD card slot.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 is not yet available in Nigeria at leading online stores. The 2-in-1 laptop starts at $1,499 for the 13-inch laptop and $2,499 for the 15-inch model.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 price in Nigeria is expected to start at around 665,000 Naira, depending on your location and the configuration of the laptop.
